Rentschler Field is usually the home of UConn Football, but on Tuesday night a different kind of football will be played at The Rent in East Hartford. The United States National Soccer Team will play the first of three World Cup warm-up games, in East Hartford against the Czech Republic.
USA Manager Bob Bradley is excited to have his team play in Connecticut.
“The game in Hartford is an important part of our preparations for the World Cup,” Bradley said. “We have always had great experiences playing at Rentschler Field, and we think it will be a special night for the fans and the team.”
After the game against the Czechs, USA will conclude its Send-Off Series with a game against Turkey at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field May 29 before departing the country May 30.
USA’s final tune-up will be June 5 against Australia in South Africa.
It’s a great stage for UConn, as they host team USA before they head to South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which begins June 11th.
Tuesday’s game is at 7:30pm ET and can be seen on ESPN.
